Olin Partnership, headed by Laurie D. Olin, designed the landscape, working with staff from the <a href="http://mallhistory.org/items/show/427">National Gallery of Art</a>. The first sculptures for the garden, many of which can still be seen today, were curated by Mark Rosenthal and Marla Prather.
